PRINCIPLES OF HIRING ACCURACY

PRINCIPLE

#7
TO HIRE RIGHT, BE TRANSPARENT
Being transparent with candidates about what the job is and isn't helps you "scare away"/flag the wrong candidates and attract/recognize the right candidates.

TO HIRE RIGHT, BE TRANPARENT

Many hiring mistakes stem from the 'problem of imperfect information'...

Imperfect information occurs when buyers and/or sellers don't have all the information necessary to make an informed decision.

No company wants to hire people that fail or are unhappy. But they lack the information needed to predict that.

No candidate wants to take a job where they'll fail or be unhappy. But they too lack the information needed to predict that.

So how do we fix this?

We fix it by being transparent with candidates about what the job is and isn't....

Transparency in the screening process helps you scare away or flag the wrong candidates.

Transparency also helps you attract and more easily recognize the right candidates.

Remember, if you deceive the person into taking a role they don't fit, both sides lose.

And if the candidate feels they were deceived, they will seek revenge in some form or another.
