PRINCIPLES OF HIRING ACCURACY
PRINCIPLE
CULTURE MATTERS MORE THAN YOU THINK
We've covered culture a lot the last few principles. It's that important.
The truth is far too many leaders & organizations don't prioritize culture enough.
If you're their competitor (for talent or customers), you're happy about that.
Still, Principle 32 is for them:
"Culture matters more than you think."
A company will thrive or die by its culture.
Succeeding with a great culture is like riding a wave.
Succeeding with a bad culture is like swimming against a current.
Here's a few tips for molding a great culture:
1. HIRE RIGHT: Hiring is the strongest way to protect a great culture or transform a bad/average culture.
2. OPERATE RIGHT: A great culture must be designed into how you operate...
-Talk about it all the time.
-Reinforce it with onboarding, training, events, traditions, rituals, visuals, etc.
-Recognize & reward behaviors that embody the culture [Promote those people].
-Penalize behaviors that don't [yes, you may have to fire some people].
What have you seen companies do to create/reinforce a great culture?
