PRINCIPLES OF HIRING ACCURACY
PRINCIPLE
EGO IS THE ENEMY OF HIRING RIGHT
I used to think hiring was broken because people didn't know how to hire right.
My assumption was 'people would hire right, if they just knew how.'
To my surprise, I now realize while this is true for many, it's not true for all.
Some people don't want to improve their hiring.
There's a lot of reasons for this - ALL OF THEM ARE EGO-RELATED.
1. For some, it's because there's no version of the world in which they are wrong.
[These types can't see the problem.]
2. For others, it's the fear of being wrong & what it might mean.
[These types are held captive by the self-defeating 'I'm a failure, NOT I failed' fallacy].
3. The last groups asks 'why should I improve my company's hiring process. That won't help me in any way?'
[These types were not great hires themselves.]
The good news is if the above doesn't describe you or your company, you'll have a FOREVER advantage over the EGO types.
Don't be afraid to look for ways to improve your hiring process.
Remove ego from the equation & you'll be surprised at what's possible.
(This is true in all areas of life by the way).
