TO HIRE IS TO PREDICT
The first product Journeyfront launched was a tool that helped companies use data to predict candidate performance.
Occasionally, I'd run into a skeptic who'd say-'we can't predict how a candidate will do post-hire.'
I'd ask-'if you believe that, why even have a hiring process? Why not just hire the first person that applies?'
They'd answer - 'because we have to make sure the candidate can do X'.
I'd then explain-'THAT IS WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO PREDICT.'
If you're involved in hiring, you're in the people prediction business whether you like it or not.
What you're predicting will vary job to job, but half the battle is just recognizing you're there to predict.
